Album Review : Stag by Melvins (03:47)
Released on Atlantic records in 1996. I was asked to choose a favorite Melvins album, and I settled
on Stag. Stag is one of their more balanced and creatively ambitious albums. It rocks hard, has
plenty of WTF moments, good production and is completely original. The Melvins also experiment with
a whole slew of instruments not normally used in the punk / metal scene, like bongos, moogs, organs,
trombones, sitar. King Buzzo really goes the extra mile in vocal variations too, from chipmunk to
...
fucking classic opening to the end of the most amazing cd trilogy. BUY ALL THREE!

This is the very second that "Grunge" finished, captured on film.
In their own words, the last nail in the coffin. Fun while it lasted I suppose - but good riddance.
I hope music will go through a similar healing process in the near future, just to flush the pipes out again and keep things fresh.
Not neccesarily a feedback heavy, punk thing (Like the Seattle stuff) all over again. Just something original. Most of the modern stuff I've heard is just so throwback and stale ("Indie").
